ENGLISH PLACEMENT EXAM RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS

To the attention of newly-registered students of 2020-2021 Fall Term who will take the English Placement Exam,

1. The exam will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. (*** The exam date has been changed from October 3 to October 6 in order to prevent any problems in sending the notification of usernames and passwords to the corporate e-mail addresses of the newly-registered students.)
2. The exam will be held on Microsoft Teams(MT) and on Oxford Placement Test website simultaneously.
3. You will first be placed in a group named “English Placement Exam” on MT by 5 October 2020.
4. You must use your @csu.edu.tr email address and password to login to MT application.
5. Oxford Placement Test username and password information will be sent to your @csu.edu.tr email address.
6. Before attending the exam you must be sure that there is a stable Internet connection and your computer is fit for speaking and listening. (*** Please note that mobile devices and tablets are not supported by the format of the exam.)
7. Your computer needs to be equipped with a camera and microphone in working condition.
8. The camera and the microphone will be kept on throughout the exam.
9. It is the student's responsibility to fulfil the above-mentioned requirements.
10. Any issues caused due to the failure to follow the instructions / meet the requirements will not be handled by the examiners.
11. You must be in the MT group 20 minutes prior to your scheduled exam time.
12. At the beginning of the exam, you must show your passport / ID card on the screen to the teachers.
13. Prior to the exam session, you will be given the instructions in a MT video conference on how to start and navigate the online exam, how to check for time during the exam.
14. During the exam, cameras and microphones will never be closed. Upon failure, your exam will not be graded.
15. You are informed that your exam will not be graded if you don't complete it due to electricity cuts, internet failures or any other technical reasons. It is the student's responsibility to avoid such failures in advance.
16. You can take your exam on your scheduled time only.
17. Students who don’t take the placement exam start the English Preparatory Program at the lowest level.
18. If you score B1 or higher, you will be contacted to take the speaking assessment.
